Digby Rail Trail

Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa is rich in railway history. Having been purchased by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1917, we were a travellers luxury destination. (We still are!) So naturally, when we discovered the Digby Rail Trail, we had to share.

In our off season, we see locals and tourists alike, travelling through our grounds on bikes, skiis, snowshoes and two feet. We encourage visitors to use our grounds for any enjoyable, active lifestyle!

The Digby Rail Trail begions about five minutes from Digby Pines on Queen St. in the town of Digby, Nova Scotia. 

Turn right off of Queen St. and you are automatically on the railroad tracks! The trail is great for a walk, a jog or a bike ride. Depending on how far you would like to go, you can walk 11km to Smith's Cove! 

Wither you are hiking, biking or out for a Sunday stroll, remember to stop and take in the breathtaking views. There are incredible views of Digby, the Bay of Fund and Digby Neck. 


Chef Dale's Breakfast Granola

It's important to start any morning off with a great breakfast. When you stay at Digby Pines, we want to make sure you have all the energy you need to take on the world that day! 

After a recent visit, we had a guest send us a message, asking for our extra special granola recipe. And of course, we had to share it with them, so they could have a little taste of Digby Pines at home. 

So here is your chance, to wake up with Digby Pines, every day; Chef Dale Nichols Granola recipe! 

Digby Pines Fruit and Nut Granola

5 Cups Rolled Oats
1 Cup Blanched Slivered Almonds
1 Cup chopped Walnuts
1 Cup Sesame Seeds
1 Cup Wheat Germ
1 Cup Bran
1 Cup Ground Flax Seeds
½ Cup Flax Seeds
2 Cups Shredded Coconut
1 Cup Unsalted Sunflower Seeds
1 Cup Canola Oil
1 ½ Cups Honey
1 Cup Raisins
1 Cup Dried Cranberries

  1. Mix all dried ingredients except raisins and cranberries
  2. Warm together the honey and oil and pour over the dried. Mix well to coat.
  3. Spread out on two sheet pans and bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.
  4. When out of oven, stir in raisins and cranberries.
  5. Allow to cool for the granola to get crunchy.
